We are proud to be hosting Jon Shain at The Balsam Mountain Inn again this year. Join us August 30th 7-9 to for a soulful concert.
Jon Shain is a veteran singer-songwriter who’s been turning heads for years with his words, his fiery acoustic guitar work, and his evolved musical style – combining improvised piedmont blues with bluegrass, folk, swing, and ragtime.
His latest album, released April 2024 Restless Soul Syndrome is perhaps his best to date and is gaining robust airplay and new fans across the country. Shain’s most recent solo disc, Gettin’ Handy with the Blues: A Tribute to the Legacy of WC Handy, was released in January 2018, the companion music book with historical background came out in 2022. The gorgeous roots album. Tomorrow Will Be Yesterday Soon was recorded in 2019 along with long-time collaborator FJ Ventre. Released in July of 2021, Never Found A Way To Tame The Blues artistically weaves elements of blues, blues-rock, jazz rhythms, ragtime picking, Rockabilly, and folk melodies.
Shain is a rare musician that can walk the walk- ebbing seamlessly between genres while keeping it his own. His Piedmont-style acoustic guitar picking helped him clinch the 2019 International Blues Challenge solo/duo win, and is as authentic as the man himself. No overnight success, he has been honing his skills for over 30 years and it is evident in his craft.
